Language plays a great role in our life being the most important way of transmitting knowledge, emotions and feelings As human beings are social animals, people have the instinct to communicate with others, to share their feelings and thoughts, and as a result, language development in each individual becomes an instinct .Everybody learns a language at a very early stage of their life and this means of communication will be used throughout in order to give and receive knowledge emotions and feelings.
In the course of the day we can observe that we know something just because we have read it somewhere or somebody has told us about it ,so everyday and even every minute we have the possibility to see what powerful tool language is.
It is true that we use language to communicate with others but however, language is much more than a communication system it represents a way to develop your inner world and discover the outer world. From body language to the language of flowers, colors everything is down to interpretation, thereby language is emotion,feeling and the interpretation of sounds symbols and thoughts.
Concerning emotion we can find many examples in which language is affecting us emotionally, sometimes it is enough to say just one sentence to upset somebody or to make him happy. Just the fact that each language has a specific word for “love” or “anger” shows that emotions have a certain influence over language.
Language is also a means to communicate ideas, knowledge and emotions to other individuals through the use of the body .The system of communication used is a set of codes or rules; a specific signaling system developed by humans. This signaling system consists of sounds used by individuals to express knowledge, emotions and ideas, it is learned and passed on through cultural transmission by the teaching and the imitation of others, thus it is significant because it is purely human in nature and no other species is able to “copy” our system.
Concluding I may say that I agree with Lytton Strachey’s quotation “Perhaps all the creations of man, language is the most astonishing’’ emphasizing that language is truly one of the most important human acquisition being as a bridge that connects individuals and the outside world; thus, it is a crucial element of human life.
